Second-period service-learning students started their partnership with Jefferson City Parks & Recreation with a litter clean up at Centennial Park on Oct. 25th. Walter Gibson, the director of Jeff. City Parks & Rec. met with the class to help do a needs assessment and identify opportunities for student support.

The students were happy to volunteer at the park and provide a cleaner space for children and community members to enjoy. Students have several projects throughout the semester they will collaborate on with Parks & Rec.  The next group effort will be spreading mulch in Nov. at a county playground.
