Middle School Math Competition 2018

Seventy of Jefferson County’s top middle school math students and from Rush Strong School, White Pine School, Jefferson Middle School and Maury Middle School traveled with 8 teachers to Pellissippi State Community College on Friday, May 4, to compete in the 18th annual Middle School Math Competition, sponsored generously by Oak Ridge Associated Universities.  Students took a rigorous 40-question test in a 60-minute time frame where correct answers earned points and incorrect and blank answers deducted various point amounts.  Hayden Churchwell, a sixth grader from MMS, placed in the top 20 and won a certificate as well as a $25 gift card.  Congratulations to all of these middle school students who represented Jefferson County well!
